Term Three 2021

Welcome back to school, all students and whanau. This term is going to be a busy one. We will be exploring immigrants and refugees with a focus on our own families, where our ancestors are from, and how they came to be in Aotearoa. We will also be learning about the gum diggers from Ahipara, visiting the museum in town and possibly visiting the Gum diggers Park in Waiharara. Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will be doing cross country training practice in order to get ready for a cross-country fun run at Pukepoto School. This term will also see us working on and presenting speeches, and enjoying another Ahipara School Agricultural & Pastoral Day (Pet Day).

Homework in Room Six:

Reading

Every day your child will bring home something to read. It may be a school reader or their poem book. *It is very important that you ensure your child reads to you every day. The more opportunities that children have to read, the easier it is for them, and the better they get at reading and writing. Please make sure your child brings their book bag to school every day. Some groups will also have an activity to complete around their book or a chosen book.

Word of the week

Every week children will be encouraged to bring an interesting word to school. We will choose the most interesting to investigate and use in our writing.

Current News

Children will be encouraged to bring a current news item to share with the class for us to explore and dissect.

If you have any questions or queries about your child’s learning please come and talk to me or email me at mandy@ahipara.school.nz.

Kind regards

Mandy MacCarthy Morrogh
